Oscar Parties

I remember my first year getting invited to the Oscar parties was in 2003. I was pretty new to the business so I hadn’t been to many events. I was nervous about going to something of this size and scale and not knowing what to expect. I had never worn a gown or anything that dressy before (Prom doesn’t count). The first year, I didn’t even do the press line because I was too nervous. A woman, who was running the red carpet at the Vanity Fair party, asked if I’d step on the carpet for a few photos. I looked up at the red carpet and there was Oprah getting her picture taken. There was no way I was going to get my photo taken after Oprah, haha!! So I hurried inside. The party ended up being really fun and I felt right at home when I saw In-N-Out Burger was being served! It was hilarious seeing all the girls in gowns and eating burgers.

It can always be a little stressful trying to find something to wear to events, but this year, I ended up wearing the first dress I tried on. I wanted to wear something long because there are only so many places you can wear something this dressy, so I wanted to really go for it. This Johanna Johnson dress was amazing. All hand beaded and really heavy. I loved the dramatic neckline, the back and the long train. Walking in a train is always tricky because you have to make sure you aren’t getting stepped on all night, but it’s also a funny way of meeting people by asking them to get off your dress!

Hope you enjoy some of the photo’s from my camera.

Much love,
xoxoM

Hi! Marisa here your chilean #1 fan =)
I’m impressed about you being shy, but I guess it’s a big deal to go to such a big event.
I wonder if it’s difficult to wear heavy stuff for so long, and how could it be a chilean art event with Mc Donalds haha! (my whole family laughed with me when reading your entry).
I would really like you to write or tweet more frequently, because I enjoy your posts =)
    Much Love, from Chile.
    Greetings to Lula.
